The Health Ministry recorded 69 new Covid-19 cases today, taking the tally of infections in the country to 6,071.
It also announced another death from the coronavirus.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 12 of the new cases are imported, while 57 are local transmissions.
He said the new cases raise the tally of patients with infectivity to 1,758.
Overall, Dr Noor Hisham said that of cases still in hospital, 37 are in serious condition and are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), with 14 on ventilator support.
The nation’s top health official said 39 patients made a full recovery and were discharged today, bringing the tally of recovered cases to 4,210, or 69.3 per cent of the cumulative cases.
He said one Covid-19-related fatality was recorded as of noon today, bringing the death toll in Malaysia to 103 (1.69 per cent of cumulative cases).
Dr Noor Hisham said the 103rd death (Case 5,441) was a 66-year-old Malaysian man with a history for cancer.
“He was in close contact with a Covid-19 patient, Case 4,818. He was treated at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital on Apr 14 and was pronounced dead on Apr 30 at 4pm.
“The Health Ministry expresses its condolences to the family of the deceased,” he added.
